I used to think of nice post titles

Hmm, sorry peeps. That is, if anyone is even bothered to read this.

Haven't been blogging the way I used to.

Anyway, I wonder why but I have nothing too BIG going on in my life now, but yet, I don't have the time too blog. Meh, stop treating blogging as a PRIORITY, will ya *smacks head*

Well, sooooooooooooo............

I'm sure you're curious right? What have I been up to?

1) Dating with the black and white keys way more often
2) Staying up late just to FB (AIYO)
3) Reading 'Breaking Dawn' (Meh, blah.... You were right, Andrea)
4) Visiting real people like my grandma (She was hyper today, God knows why...)
5) Outing
6) Looking around for jobs/internships/language classes (Just gotta look harder, I guess :[ )
7) Watching Masterchef on TV (By far the most decent and educational program on the idiot box)
8) Making notes for units next year (Sgt rajin kan?)
9) Googling on stuff that I don't usually Google about
10) SLEEP LIKE A BOSS :P

Stronger

Yes, she came back stronger, indeed

*Oh btw I privatized my blog for a while... man, those spammers are annoying :O

15 December 2011

So MALAYSIAN

I swear this guy is uber funny. Man, he can act. :)

Memang 'SO Malaysian'

09 December 2011

I feel your pain, dude.

I'm sorry if any of you are offended. This is only for entertainment purposes.

Viewer/ reader discretion advised :)

Oh, and excuse the expletives.

Oh, I'm actually quite proud that I  understood his Canto + Mandarin :) :) :)

Ganas punya piano player (PotC Theme)

I only know the epic theme song from PotC.

One of my favourites

“I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me, but it’s hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I’m seeing it all at once, and it’s too much; my heart fills up like a balloon that’s about to burst… And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain, and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life…You have no idea what I’m talking about, I’m sure. But don’t worry… You will someday.”

- Lester Burnham / American Beauty

The only reason I like Screen Theories is because we get to watch movies. Haha, kinda obvious, right? :) Sort of miss it.. All the EPIC movies we've watched T_T

28 November 2011

Cantik tak?

I changed my theme/ background again. Got bored of the previous one I had. LOL.

Anyway, I ain't a productive blogger anymore.

I wonder why.

I thought holidays would be the best time to write whatever you want/ can think of but, well, that
doesn't seem to be the case for me. Hmm... I'm probably to stressed / caught up with looking for internships/ interview   (which I don't feel like talking about, here).

Okay, I shall stop here before I turn this post into a nonsensical one.

10 November 2011

Welcome the holidays! =D

The day has finally come. Paper was OKAY except that the usual-lah... I just hope I answered the QUESTION. And once again, I dare not expect much. Well, how to when you have a British lecturer whose definition of  GREAT  or VERY GOOD is equivalent to a 4B SPM standard. Guess I just have to pray that he gives me ENOUGH to move on to next year.

Not gonna study for a while... except probably when I get bored, I'll flip thru' slowly AUTHORSHIP because I don't wanna kill myself next year especially when I have THREE third year units to kill me slowly and softly. AUTHORSHIP, I hope to destroy you before you do so to me. :P

enrolled for next year. Hopefully no changes this time. Make up your mind, JL! Ish!

And make sure I accomplish more good things before I graduate...

Like TM-ing
Talking more to people
Make effort and time for your beloved novels that have been buried in my cabinet for years

07 October 2011

Think of one that suits this post

This week proved to be a rollercoaster. NEVER in my entire life as a student have I frequented a lecturer's room or office so often to the extent that he actually said : "Oh God..." LOL. Thank goodness he was REALLY NICE and POLITE... unlike the M'sians... pretty sarcastic and in-your-face or just plain meh... i just don't know what to say.

I've been running up and down, going to lecturer's offices, my presentation meetings, submit assignments to the point where I feel like I could just collapse anytime. Like, literally.

Hence, why I was late by 10 minutes for class today because I purposely took a stride... like I'm walking in a park. Not that the room was easy to find either. I thought I knew where it was but then, turns out, I came out from the other side so I'm supposed to walk the other way to get there. Needless to say, I went one big round.

Can't exactly say that the next two weeks will be a breeze because I still have assignments due + a nerve-wrecking take-home exam + a test

But, you know what? I learnt something this week and shall always remember that. And that is: To make sure the person that you have helped helps you back. Yes, I'm talking about assignments.

I am super thankful that one of the guys actually lent me his LAW book (sth that could be useful for another essay) and may I just say he has very cute handwriting  :) Beats mine anytime and makes me feel so 'paiseh' coz I'm a girl and y'know what they say about girls, right? :)   In return, I shared a source (ONE out of thirteen refs) for the essay due later today.See? This is what I mean.

Anyhow, I am glad two assignments are down in the box. Not expecting much again, just in case I.... falter.

Gosh, two more weeks to the end of being a second-year. Must make sure I don't flunk anything...

*crosses fingers*

Okay, going to sleep now since I have been working too hard. What? I always work too hard all the time! >.<

Okay, stop. now.

30 September 2011

I need a break

I sincerely hope I'm on the right track for my assignments... otherwise I'll have to slave thru' again during the weekends.
*keeps fingers crossed*

Kelly + her strong vocals and message

It will rain, indeed :)

Bruno Mars never fails to disappoint me. And, quite surprisingly Eminem + Whatever his name is blend well in this song.

Oh, great; just realised I have to check my assignments again + start cracking my head for the presentation. There goes my so-called SEMESTER BREAK.

25 September 2011

Suddenly, I miss Britney

Back then when she was saner and more innocent :)

I remember having her driving license once. Got that from the US, cheap. :) It probably was fake. I don't know... because I either gave it to my cousin who was a HUGE fan of her when she first came out, or I LOST it :(

Well, at least VEVO still has her videos and she's still alive... though it's pretty hard to like her songs now.

*imagines Aiman shooting me for that last bit I said*

Okay, enough of Britney. Back to my essay.

15 September 2011

Weird + funny ambitions I used to have

1. Dancer (LOL)
2. Ballerina (Wait, doesn't that go under dancer?)
3. Teacher (Meh, no way, I suck at verbal explanation)
4. Scientist (Bah, I fail at every experiment and every single BIOLOGY test. Chem, not so bad... but still...)
5. Musician (Gah, I need to learn more instruments)
6. Entrepreneur (NO WAY! My maths is so BLAH... I get cheated all the time!)
7. Pianist (Uhm... okay???)

Can't believe I had all these ambitions. Seriously.

17 August 2011

I have learned

... that Omar B. Washington existed to WRITE and INSPIRE us with this beautifully written poem

XD

I like the melody :)

Kiss the Rain-Yiruma (that's in case you want to know the title of the song that's playing in the background) :)

Okay, I shall go back and be friends with my theory-filled articles.

24 July 2011

Just before...

I say hello again to UNI and its amazing yet insane workload,

I shall BORAK sikit pasal IPOH.

Journeyed to Ipoh and had dinner with the entire IPOH gang, special edition.

Cheh... Special sgt ke?

Well, special because cousin(s) from S'pore and NZ came down, too :)

NZ one came down 2 weeks ago.

Before you know it, they'd be dropping by my place... (and going off). Hope it'd be a pleasant stay for them.

Meh, I realise I'm not talking abt Ipoh anymore -.-'

Anyway, I still can't believe we made a day trip to Ipoh.

15 July 2011

Only because their melodies are NICE :)

I blame myself for watching K-POP Hitz Talent Show on Hitz.TV (where M'sians take part and get a chance to go to Korea).

Wedding Dress - Taeyang

Only after listening to the English version, I realised WHY Christina wanted me to play this song... so badly. Sadly, wasn't into K-POP at that time. Btw, still trying to PERFECT this song because it's not so easy to follow the HIP- HOP/R&B beat.

Can't Let You Go Even If I Die - 2 AM (Still my fave :) Thank you for reminding me, Hitz.TV)

I'll Back Off So You Can Live - G.NA (AKA 'I Will Get Lost, You Go Your Way')

The version with both English and Hangul/Romanization.

Their melodies are nice but the song titles are so in-your-face. Or should I say, their literal translations into English. You say, they're not proficient in English? Still, that doesn't change the fact that the KOREANS can write BEAUTIFUL songs(often) with such HURTFUL lyrics.

Now I know why I wanted to major in Writing so I could go into songwriting, though, I hope I wouldn't HURT anyone.

XD

Perasan!

:P

Stop it already, JL!

Okay, okay... stopped.

Enjoy the songs, peeps :)

13 July 2011

Forget about "post title"

Wah, Aunty HY/ Hilary actually brought back Cadbury Roses Choc for me :D

Those chocs were the same chocs she brought back when she (they) last came back.

No, I didn't ask for it at all! Wanted to ask but was PAISEH cuz takkan lah u expect people to bring back things for you, right??? AND didn't want to trouble aka MAFAN them, esp because she's bringing all the way from New Zealand. Well, I did chat with Bernadine, my other cousin aka Hilary's sis about what I wanted but I did NOT ask for chocs. In fact, I didn't ask for anything! She was the one suggesting stuff to me so I thought aiyah, CINCAI - lah.

God, I shall refrain from eating them until she has gone back (man, would I be able to wait that long?) because once I start opening one, I wouldn't STOP eating them.

*I sound so Chinese in this post. Hehe...

04 July 2011

Because I was bored

Went to Devi's blog for FUN. Scrolled down and on the right, saw her links bar. There was Owl City's blog link! *WOOT*

Their latest post is INTERESTING :)

02 July 2011

Nobody's Perfect

The first time I heard it on TV, I didn't like it.

Thanks to my itchy hands, I went on You Tube to look for the video... and that was when I changed my mind. Not as infectious as 'Price Tag' but still like-able.

Here's how she sounds LIVE. :)
I just hope she doesn't end up like Gaga
Hmm... I wonder why is everything under VEVO now :(

That aside,

9 more days till results day

Oh, hurry up, time!

Just wanna know whether I'd be enjoying my remaining days of holidays or sulking thru' the two weeks that's left right after that day.

22 June 2011

Whee =D

Yay!

After 4 days of eating porridge, I'm back to eating rice =)

Oh! And I just entered a contest, Harry Potter one to be exact.

I wonder if my answers are good enough to let me go for the premiere in London (It's the last show, yo!) because you know I tend to write like an 11-year old >_<

I look younger than my age (does that have anything to do with WHY I write like an eleven-year old?)

Yes, I know.... been getting that from lots of people

Okay, better stop here before I go on and on about myself

Syok sendiri

Not making sense

MEH!

STOP already.

"Rolling In The Deep" by Adele (COVER)

WOW! She found the notes/chords to this song?????????
I'm amazed

Christina Grimmie is awesome!

:)

But of course, it is Adele's song :D

01 June 2011

Wow, this song existed???

I would like to call it the "skydiving" song.

LOL

:)

I don't what else to say
I ran out of words

On another note,

Goodbye Postcolonial Literature!
You'll be missed
I really wish I had the time to write much better answers
Just pray I get some marks :)

Of distractions and being distracted

Semalam.....

It's funny HOW I SAID to mum : Okay, going to the library to study

So like a lot of nerds, I went to the library to do so.

Only to WASTE a lot of time LOOKING for a proper place to study

Only to find out your partner is cakapbanyak with her MUM (oklah, maybe on second thought, it's understandable.... cuz what if I spent my time abroad???)

And it's really funny how we couldn't discuss really LOUD since it's a library

Then again, some people were HAHA-ing so loud, you just feel like yanking their heads off.

Well, it's the ONLY place to study, apparently because all of the other rooms are locked for godknowswhat illogical reason...

So, we settled down at the bean bags which looked comfortable.

As it turns out, it wasn't comfortable.

NEVER gonna spend 5-7 hours on the bean bags EVER AGAIN.
-

Thank GOD today was MUCH better, at least we segregated questions with MORE kawans to help out.

I just hope I remember my theories, stories and my points

I shd really be logging off now

Talk about distractions

Heh!

18 May 2011

'Hunger'

"Go home and cry."

My lecturer's last words before he let us go.

I'm only stuck at page 39 now.

Yet, I feel the heartbreak already. :(

Just before class, I read the back of the book and this struck me
:

"Is ordinary love not a kind of burden, stifling and terrifying in the choices and responsibilities it forces on us? And yet we yearn for it, suffer for it, define ourselves by our experience of it, cannot live without it."

Such a well-crafted quote. The irony of LOVE.

Gosh, I shall continue reading the book and CRY since that was what the lecturer told us to do, anyway.

14 May 2011

My fave off Glee

How many times will it take for me to get it right?

-
Yeah, I'm officially hooked to this song

11 May 2011

One of the rare days

I actually get to sit with my friends from BIZ school...

E'dda was so funny, I tell you.

She saw me at the cafeteria

After saying hello, etc, cakap byk

then came the time she said:

Aiyah, still hungry la. But dunno what else to eat here :(

LOL! I feel the same way almost all the time!

After deciding that she wasn't gonna buy food,

Aiyah, thirsty-lah!

Then, Shelby said: Go buy something to drink.

E'dda: Lazy to walk-lah!

ME: HAHAHAHA I know! (*in my heart* WHY must they build the drink stall so far?)

Jauh gila takpe, but what I don't like is the long queue. Sometimes, there's nobody at the counter. If there is, that cashier will take her own sweet time.

Heh! Anyway, later she was telling abt how she's the KOPI O' NO SUGAR GIRL. How the fellas who make her drink just like to BORAK PJG LEBAR with her when all she wants is her drink and to get out of the queue so that other ppl can pay.

Haih...

I can only dream of the day that SOMEONE actually restructures/ renovates the cafeteria (a bit).

24 April 2011

Wrong day to share this :P

The first time I watched this, I was like WOW :O

Still struggling to like the ORIGINAL version though

30 March 2011

The future pharmacist + stuff

Okay, so on Monday, I went to the library just before my class to see whether the book I wanted (so badly) was there on the shelf..

Sad to say, it wasn't there :(

I figured if I were to wait any longer, my assignments wouldn't be done. Currently 500 plus words.

So, went to ask the lending services people and explained my problem

Gave me a form to fill in

Then, this girl came from nowhere and asked me: Why? What's wrong with this book?

(At that time I was actually HOLDING another book in my hand, waiting to be self-loaned)

Me: Oh.... no, no not this book. I can't find a book.. another one.

Girl: Oh, last time I also cannot find

Me: yalar! There's a gap in between, right, the shelf, the call number also?

Girl: Which course are you doing?

Me: (insertcoursehere)

Girl: Wah! I actually like that course wor... I'm in Pharmacy!

Me: Then take-lah...

Girl: My parents don't let :( They said no job :( :(

Me: Aww... as elective???

Girl: :( no space :(

---

she had a name which sounded very much like the Malay word 'sinar'

XD

No, she isn't Malay.

---
Anyway, off I went for Film :)

Moulin' Rouge :D

The only movie I like out of all the movies we're gonna watch the entire sem.
At least, it's something familiar, bright and keeps us happy at times :)

Am addicted to this song :D

Come what may

Until the next random gibberish post

26 March 2011

The medical 'experts'

The other day I was looking for a place to sit in the cafeteria. So, as usual I put my bag down just so I could BOOK the seat. Hello? Seats aren't easy to find and sometimes I've to go one big round for ten-fifteen mins just to get a place. And most of the time, I just wait until it's not so packed with people.. probably 2pm ish.

Ordered food.
Thank God I made the right decision to buy the chicken thigh.
:)

When I came back however, there was this guy sitting at my place! Oh no! How? One big gang summore! Die lah! Where to sit???

So, when I said excuse me... then he realised what he did, moved to the chair inside. Finally, I popped out that question: Can I sit here? Not very polite, but I guess youngsters these days don't even bother to ask. That's sad.

The guy who moved one chair away said sth like: Yeah, hor! I think we shd be the one asking.
Heh! Tahu pun!
LOL.

Soon, the other two seats facing me were filled with gals. The rest were taken up by guys.

You have no idea how awkward it felt like to be in the bunch of these people.. esp when you have no company.

They started talking and after that laughing and what not. Honestly, I felt very paiseh man... Can't help but listen to the conversation.

Suddenly one of the girls started talking to me.

Gal: You study philosophy?

Me: Oh no, no... this is the dept ( what they call it) in Aussie..

After explaning to her,

she intro herself

Gal: Oh, we're from Medicine

Me: *eyes pop out*

Gal: I know, we don't look like Med students, right???

Then , we started comparing workload.

I know-lah. A lot of people think Arts school is relaxing. Well, I'd say not as hectic as medicine or any of the science courses... but... it actually does involve LOADS of research until you go BONKERS, which is why I'm here now to talk about this instead of dealing with stuff like hegemonic masculinity, heterosexuality and gender bending. ZzzzzzZzzz, believe me, this is the LAST sem and TIME I'm going to do Gender as a unit. Not because it's BORING but because there's just way too many theories... I just hope Gender wouldn't murder my GPA so much..

See? How much I can actually talk abt other stuff?

Anyway, the guy beside me said: Our life is very SAD. Every week got exam, one. That's why we're like that when we're outside of lectures and classes.

In fact, on that day, they were having exams..

Sigh, I get what you mean.

speaking of which I've no idea how but I've to do 3 assignments at once so that in two weeks time, I don't "nervous breakdown".

Back to my boring assignments :(

22 March 2011

I've been reading

K.S. Maniam's " The Return"

definitely more enjoyable and fun to read than Salman Rushdie's East West. I wonder why HE has to use magic realism. I thought only Latin American writers do that. Ah! Whatever happens, that book isn't gonna be read again after the sem ends...

I feel so M'sian after reading just few chapters of Maniam.

:)

These are the kinds of books that I enjoy reading.

No offence to Rushdie.

Postcolonial Literature drives one crazy but at the same time addresses issues that we often take for granted.

Okay, "RETURN"-ing to my NOVEL now.

15 March 2011

Memento

Not a straightforward film.
It's that kind of movie that plays with your mind
You question everything that's in the movie
Just like Lenny
since he cannot create new memories

Another one from Nolan
Thank you for bringing us into the world of Lenny
And telling the story in a way very few directors would have done

Now, where was I?

Meh, back to work!

03 March 2011

Nothing much

This blog is getting blah... and so are my days. Like, excuse me? It's only the 3rd day of class for me, yet I already feel the pressure. Meh, I bet it's the same for all of us at Monash (at least)

Just like every other sem, I've been bombarded with unit guides and readers with countless words. I just hope I won't make a HOLE somewhere because then I'll be doomed for exams.

And since i'm doing Literature (part of my Major) I have to treat 8 novels/books (some of which are quite a pain to read) as best friends EVERY WEEK. FUH! I just wanna finish the exam paper and KNOW that my $$$$ didn't go down the drain. Why must novels be sooooooooo expensive??? Give book lovers a chance to buy at a notsoexpensive rate lah!

Okay, I better stop complaining.. Goodbye.

01 March 2011

28 Feb

Yesterday wasn't exactly a day I was looking forward to. Not when your brain keeps thinking of the Oscars when you're supposed to be focusing on your 3-hour lecture, including a FILM/MOVIE which was seriously testing your patience.

Meh, the first day felt blah.

It was also the day someone flew off... without saying anything to me. Heh, but I understand-lah.. (Don't need to tell me, I will always be on FB) .There's always another time u could come back and SURPRISE me. :P

And it was also the day of my 3rd ballet lesson. Believe me, they're getting intense even though it IS supposed to be basic.

Conclusion: 28 Feb wasn't much of a good day.

16 February 2011

Places to go before I die

1. Machu Picchu
2. Holland
3. Las Vegas
4. Japan
5. Scotland
6. Ireland
7. Maldives (because I promised a CIMP-ian, from there)
8. Hawaii
9. Egypt (I wanna see the real Pyramids and of course a lot of other treasures)
10. Germany
11. Austria
12. Canada ( CIMP forever! LOL)

Random conversations with the parents

The other day, my dad randomly asked:

Eh, Yanita how?

Me: LOL! She went for exchange already-lah... (insert country here)

And because he was driving, I don't think he heard the location very clearly

Few mins later,

Eh, eh... did u just say (insert country here) or Australia???

Yes, daddy, believe it! She didn't go to Aussie, she went somewhere further. If I were to follow her, I would have planned WAY earlier, okay??? Duh... not like just suka2 boleh pergi aja without following all the necessary steps/procedure.

So, that was conversation no. 1.

Conversation no. 2 was started off by my MUM

Wah, why Azree can comment on ur status one??? (FB)

Kan aku dah cakap, he likes to kacau me-lahhhhhhh....because I'm nice (I think). That is why I say: I'm sooooo paisehhhhhh - lah, wei... ever since my "journey" kat sekolah.

Why did we ever have to bump into each other at Sun-U???

Cuz God wanted to give him another chance to kacau me

Heh.

How annoying but nevermind-lah... cuz nobody else will annoy me the way he does...

Come to think of it, I do the same thing, too (on FB now). It's just that HE started it 5 years ago :P

So, there you have it, MUM. He is my ever amazing schoolmate who likes to distract me.

Hmm... it feels like my parents miss them MORE than me. LOL.

It's okay, people, you both will forever be remembered by your cute friend =)

02 February 2011

Because I was too free

... I went to Google and searched for quotes...

and this one caught my attention.

There are two barriers that often prevent communication between the young and their elders. The first is middle-aged forgetfulness of the fact that they themselves are no longer young. The second is youthful ignorance of the fact that the middle aged are still alive.
Jessamyn West

Now that I've found this quote, we all know why it's (extremely) difficult to talk to our parents

11 January 2011

how?

When I went for Mandarin class just now,
something interesting came up.

The ONLY other girl who was there before me (because we were early) smiled at me. So naturally, I smiled back before starting a conversation (like I always do)

So, we began with the usual HI. And then...

I asked: What's your name?

Jolene

HAHAHAHAHA

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG

So, okay, I thought: it must be her English name then...

but then... it turned out to be both her English and Chinese names (albeit her Chinese name differs totally from the English spelling)

Looked at the name list when the attendance sheet was going around

Saw her name

Came to a conclusion that my name still sounds BETTER

:)

the only problem is How on EARTH are we going to call each other if we happen to sit next to each other and start talking...

weird, just weird

just when I thought the name isn't so popular

I guess I was wrong.

01 January 2011

2011

1/1/11

:)

Hmm...Sadly, this morning, I woke up to a DAY with NO ELECTRICITY.

I thought some other people were affected too, in our neighbourhood

when dad decided to try the switch box or whatever you call it

and everything came ON

:D

---
will be off to a wedding reception later.

cousins.

sigh.

sooner or later, it's going to be my turn...

and that reminds me, i'm gonna be a year older

oh no :(

talk about turning a year older,

i found another strand of white hair yesterday when I was brushing teeth at night.

:(

Shu Ying, you've a new member to join you

unless of course, thanks to some miracle,

your white hair never came back

sigh, still sad... :(

all i know is I ain't a grandma yet.

:)

Blessed New Year, everyone :)
